How to read a timetable

READING AN ONLINE TIMETABLE:

STEP ONE

Locate the correct timetable

Ensure you are looking at the correct timetable for the journey you would like to take and the correct day you would like to travel.

STEP TWO

Find your departure stop

Identify your departure stop on the left, as you read across the row you can see the departure times from this particular stop. Read down the column to find your arrival time at your destination stop.

STEP THREE

Check when the service runs

From the key at the bottom, some services only operate on School Holidays, school days, not Saturdays and Saturdays only, each represented with a code. The day the service is operating can be determined by the code at the top of each column of the departure times.

QUICK GUIDE

This example below is the Callconnect service 4, travelling from Stamford to Grantham, operating from Monday to Saturday (no Sunday service available). Looking at Careby as the pickup location, across this row the first pickup time is 08.57am, looking down the column, this will arrive at Grantham bus station for 09.44am. This service does not operate on Saturdays, as shown from the code above the column.

READING A ROADSIDE TIMETABLE:

STEP ONE

Locate the correct bus stop

At your local bus stop, timetables will be displayed in a case on the pole or in the nearest shelter.

Ensure you are stood on the correct side of the road to the direction you want to travel. You can check this by looking at the final destination next to the service number.

STEP TWO

Identify the day and time of travel

Identify what day it is you’re travelling using the headers, your times are then listed with the final destination next to it.

STEP THREE

Check when the service runs

From the key at the bottom, some services only operate on School Holidays, school days, not Saturdays and Saturdays only, each represented with a code. The day the service is operating can be determined by the code at the top of each column of the departure times.

QUICK GUIDE

This example below shows two services operating seven days a week: the Number 1 Grantham via Manthorpe (Stagecoach InterConnect Lincoln to Grantham) service and the Number 27 Grantham (Centrebus Sleaford to Grantham) service.

Using Belton Hall Gates as the weekday pick-up location, the first departure across this row is:
06:17am on the Number 1 service
10:18am on the Number 27 service

Please note: during school holidays, the Number 27 has an earlier service available at 08:13am as indicated by the ’SH’ shown in the Notes section.

If you catch the Number 1 service at 06:17am from Belton Hall Gates, you would arrive in Manthorpe at approximately 06:21am (a 4-minute journey) and reach Grantham at approximately 06:32am (around 15 minutes in total).

If you take the Number 27 at 10:18am, you would arrive in Grantham at approximately 10:32am.
